Position: Dairy Cattle Farm Operator

Salary: $76,513 – $85,000 P.A Plus 12% Super

Tasks:
- Milking operations (manual or automated parlour/rotary systems).
- Monitor herd health (lameness, mastitis, injuries, illnesses).
- Carry out artificial insemination or assist with natural breeding.
- Assist with calving, including monitoring, assisting difficult births, and calf care.
- Administer vaccinations, drenches, and medications under supervision/vet guidance.
- Maintain livestock records (breeding, production, health).
- Prepare and deliver feed rations (TMR – Total Mixed Rations, silage, hay, concentrates).
- Monitor pasture condition and rotate grazing herds.
- Operate feed-out machinery and ensure water systems are functional.
- Recognise nutritional issues (body condition scoring, weight management).
- Follow hygiene protocols for milking equipment and storage.
- Test milk quality (somatic cell counts, antibiotic contamination checks).
- Ensure compliance with dairy company standards and food safety requirements.
- Handle and store milk according to HACCP and regulatory guidelines.
- Liaise with vets, nutritionists, suppliers, and milk companies.
Skill Level:
- ANZSCO Skill Level: 3–4 (generally requires AQF Certificate II–III in Agriculture/Dairy Production, or equivalent on-the-job training).
- Essential skills: animal handling, machinery operation, attention to detail, physical fitness, record-keeping, teamwork
