Agri Technician – Stone Fruit Orchard Operations

Position Overview
Working closely with Agronomists, Farm Managers and Senior Agri Technicians, the Agri Technician plays a critical role in managing and maintaining orchard health, ensuring optimal fruit production, and implementing efficient farming practices.
This position involves hands-on work in orchard management, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting while ensuring high-quality fruit production.
This position reports to Head of Orchard Operations.
This full-time position will be offered an annual salary of $75,000 – $95,000 depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
Orchard Management & Crop Care
- Provide technical assistance to agronomists, farm managers and senior technicians for all aspects of planting, spraying and harvest activities
- Monitor tree health, growth, and fruit development
- Conduct soil and leaf analysis to determine nutrient levels and recommend fertilization strategies.
- Manage and assist in pruning, thinning, and training trees to optimize fruit yield and quality.
- Implement pest and disease management programs in collaboration with agronomists and farm managers.
Irrigation & Water Management
- Assist in maintenance and operation of irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water use.
- Assist in routine inspections to detect leaks, blockages, or malfunctions in irrigation infrastructure.
- Assist the agronomists and irrigationists in irrigation system designs.
Harvesting & Post-Harvest Handling
- Assess fruit maturity and readiness for harvest.
- Supervise and assist in hand-picking or mechanical harvesting operations.
- Ensure proper handling of fruit to maintain quality standards.
- Oversee post-harvest storage and transport processes to minimize losses.
Worker Supervision & Training
- Coordinate teams of workers during key orchard operations, including pruning, thinning, and harvesting.
- Train workers on proper techniques including safety briefings
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, proper equipment use, and workplace procedures.
