Salary-from $69000 plus superannuation
We are currently looking for someone with a passion for agriculture to work on the farm as a Fruit farm worker.
Job tasks and responsibilities:
Operational Responsibilities:
· Operate farm machinery and equipment to plant, harvest, fertilise and spray fruit.
· Managing the farm machinery and equipment
· Generating general data
· Water and fuel pump readings
· General stock take.
· Record keeping of operational information such as water usage, logbooks, spray, and
fertilizer to monitor growth and productivity.
· Keep maintenance records and perform regular maintenance on equipment used on
the farm, such as tractors, harvesters, and pruning tools, to keep them in good working
condition.
· Neatness and tidiness of maintenance areas as well as on the farm and equipment.
· Daily checks and services for the chemical application on trees to limit the spreading of
weeds, insects, and diseases.
· Use pruning tools to trim fruit trees to improve crops and quality.
· Install and maintain irrigation systems on the farm in order to ensure sufficient water
supply for the fruit trees.
· Supervise machines, equipment, dams, waterways, buildings etc.
· Productivity of the farm and equipment.
· Stock monitoring of Fertiliser, Irrigation, Fuel, farm equipment and chemicals.
· Harvesting fruit ensuring the picking of fruit is effective and done by the specified size
and ripeness to make sure it’s the correct quality for markets.
Skills and Experiences:
We are looking for someone with
· 1- 3 years’ experience in a similar position as well as a proven record of skills and
knowledge in agriculture/horticulture.
· Have considerable experience, fundamental knowledge, and skills in farm operation.
· Trustworthy person who can be relied upon.
· Be a responsible person who can work in a team environment.
· Ability to use farming tools and equipment for harvesting and pruning.
· Knowledge of pesticides, insecticides, and fungicides used on farm
· Enthusiastic, professional attitude and understanding of the
objectives of DBC Farming.

Pay: $69,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year

Description:
- Picking produce in line with specifications (Quality checking all produce)
- Clipping, de-leafing, stringing, pruning, truss arching, pollinating in line with KPI targets as set by the Head Grower
- Packing, sorting, grading, stacking
- General crop and labouring duties as required
- General cleaning duties in greenhouse as required
- Every Friday afternoon all trolleys and scissor lifts are to be cleaned + clear of any rubbish/leaf’s

- Monitor the implementation of food safety and quality programs and assist with process improvement.
- Report any non-compliance to supervisor.
- Promote quality consciousness within the team.

- Including picking completion clean up processes in and around farm and other cleaning /general housekeeping duties required to keep the site compliant with safety standards.
- Undertakes duties in a safe and responsible manner, taking reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of other personnel who may be affected by their conduct.
- Ensure all company WH&S policies, SOPs and procedures are followed.
- Contribute to work health and safety processes.
- Report any maintenance issues to farm supervisor or manager
- Participate in all WH&S training provided.
- Advise management of Health and safety risks, hazards, accidents and near misses.
- Maintain 100% compliance to federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to workplace safety regulations: ensuring adherence to requirements.

Full job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person that can manage all aspects of the production system and be involved in on-going growth of the business.
Who will you work for?
After a recent change in ownership, this farming business is now looking to continue to improve and develop their operations through expansion of their current cropping. Located just south-east of Grafton, this 1000 acre asset currently produces field grown berries organically, has highly secure water assets and is primed for improvement and growth. This business is owned by a family who live a couple of hours away, and are looking for a person to manage, maintain and develop all aspects of the farming system.
The role itself?
Reporting to the Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Training, inducting and supervising workers or contractors – coordinating and directing their activities ensuring efficiencies and safety whilst on farm site
- Managing the “day to day” farm operations and planning works in advanced
- Leading the full farming cycle (planting to packing) to meet production yields/forecasts and premium organic quality standards
- Maintaining records for all farm activities
- Assisting in the auditing processes, across multiple standards
- Reducing crop waste and managing all farming products, efficiently and effectively and within commercially appropriate parameters
- Identifying risks to production and implementing strategies to ensure production is not compromised
- Actively managing farm capital improvement initiatives to ensure business benefits are delivered
- Installation, maintenance and regular monitoring of irrigation & fertigation systems
- General maintenance of property and erosion, fencing, slashing, weed and pest control along with other activities as they arise
- Working with the organic management plan to protect and enhance the Certified Organic certification into perpetuity
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations and health & safety standards
- Standard reporting requirements, weekly, monthly, yearly
What kind of person will fit the role?
The successful applicant will have:
- 5+ years experience in horticultural cropping
- Wide-ranging irrigation experience
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement farming strategies
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Demonstrated experience managing working teams

About the Role

Reporting to the Southern Operations Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for day to day farming activities and requires a high level of responsibility including:
- Monitoring and reporting on KPI’s and other metrics as directed and required
- Leading, training and motivating farm workers to achieve quality outcomes in a professional and commercial environment
- Being committed and actively creating an environment that drives continuous improvement in animal welfare, quality, productivity and environmental awareness
- Adhering to relevant legislation and Group policies, principles and procedures
- Collaborating with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities and working with them to create a safe workplace

What We Need from You
- Having worked in the field of poultry livestock, you will have a track record in delivering results and reporting against key performance indicators
- A minimum of 1-2 years experience in poultry livestock operations
- Experience with free-range poultry systems is preferred but not essential
- Experience in working autonomously in an unsupervised environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with attention to detail
- A passion for teamwork to achieve our commercial and ethical goals and deliver profitable outcomes
