Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Farm Worker to join our family ran agricultural team. This role involves hands-on work in grain farming and livestock management. The ideal candidate will be physically capable, reliable, and eager to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Experience with either farm machinery or cattle handling is required. Welding experience and class 1A are an asset, but not required.

Duties

• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, this includes; a variety of tractors and implements involved in grain farming and cattle feeding
• Support livestock care including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring. Feeding includes running a silage wagon and bale processor
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the farm work areas
• General maintenance of fences, and yard
• Ability to perform physical labor
• Mechanical knowledge or experience working with farm machinery is preferred
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn new skills
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and stand for extended periods
• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately

Skills

• Extensive animal husbandry skills including animal handling and care across various species
• Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and other power tools safely and efficiently
• Familiarity with farming practices including irrigation systems, horticulture techniques, greenhouse management, and growing experience
• Basic math skills for measurements, inventory tracking, and record keeping
• Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Knowledge of welding techniques for equipment repair or modifications
• Experience with equine care or other specialized animal handling is a plus

Salary-from $69000 plus superannuation

We are currently looking for someone with a passion for agriculture to work on the farm as a Fruit farm worker.

Job tasks and responsibilities:

Operational Responsibilities:

· Operate farm machinery and equipment to plant, harvest, fertilise and spray fruit.

· Managing the farm machinery and equipment

· Generating general data

· Water and fuel pump readings

· General stock take.

· Record keeping of operational information such as water usage, logbooks, spray, and

fertilizer to monitor growth and productivity.

· Keep maintenance records and perform regular maintenance on equipment used on

the farm, such as tractors, harvesters, and pruning tools, to keep them in good working

condition.

· Neatness and tidiness of maintenance areas as well as on the farm and equipment.

· Daily checks and services for the chemical application on trees to limit the spreading of

weeds, insects, and diseases.

· Use pruning tools to trim fruit trees to improve crops and quality.

· Install and maintain irrigation systems on the farm in order to ensure sufficient water

supply for the fruit trees.

· Supervise machines, equipment, dams, waterways, buildings etc.

· Productivity of the farm and equipment.

· Stock monitoring of Fertiliser, Irrigation, Fuel, farm equipment and chemicals.

· Harvesting fruit ensuring the picking of fruit is effective and done by the specified size

and ripeness to make sure it’s the correct quality for markets.

Skills and Experiences:

We are looking for someone with

· 1- 3 years’ experience in a similar position as well as a proven record of skills and

knowledge in agriculture/horticulture.

· Have considerable experience, fundamental knowledge, and skills in farm operation.

· Trustworthy person who can be relied upon.

· Be a responsible person who can work in a team environment.

· Ability to use farming tools and equipment for harvesting and pruning.

· Knowledge of pesticides, insecticides, and fungicides used on farm

· Enthusiastic, professional attitude and understanding of the

objectives of DBC Farming.
